It has now been revealed that Hollywood comedian Chris Rock had demanded joint custody of their two childrenin the divorce documents filed at a New Jersey court. In the documents, the actor is said to have accused his wife, Malaak Compton-Rock, of not allowing him to meet his kids and wants joint physical and legal custody of their kidsfor this reason. The couple was married for nineteen year and has two daughters, Lola, aged 12 and Zahra, aged 10. News of their divorce was made official on Sundayby the actor’s wife in an interview to People magazine,and eventually confirmed by the actor’s lawyer Robert S. Cohen. The star of “Grown Ups”had filed for divorce just last week, a couple of days beforeChristmas.

The papers also revealed the fact that preparations to end the marriage had already started earlier, and the couple had begun arrangements to dividetheir property in November itself. This shows that the decision was not a sudden one, and was in the offing.Although the couple had signed a prenuptial agreement before their marriage in 1996, the pre-nup could have expired because they have been together for more than eighteen years.
Actor seeks to reduce spousal support as his wife runs her own business
The “Top Five” actor’s legal documents also showed that he had been trying to restrain his spousal support,because he believed that his wife had the “ability to work and contribute to her own support.” In addition to being the wife of a well known celebrity, Malaak Compton-Rock runs a non-profit organization called styleWorks, and is a much admired philanthropist.
