Dussehra Incomplete Without Ramlila

The Dussehra celebration is incomplete without the oldest art form Ramlila. In Delhi every year there are Ramlila organized by several organizers. Thousands of people come in order to watch this Ramlila. Some of the places where the Ramlila is being held in Delhi are:

Shri Ram Lila Committee

Where: Ram Lila Maidan, Asaf Ali Road

It is one of the oldest Ramlila committees in Delhi, the Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar founded the Shri Ram Lila Committee. It was started in order to entertain his subjects and army. Before the performance, every day the performers do a costume parade through the Chandni Chowk, Nai Sarak, and Sitaram Bazaar.

Shree Dharmik Leela Committee

Where: until last year it was held at Subhash Nagar Parade Ground, at present in the Bagichi Madho Das Maidan, Chandni Chowk

Shree Dharmik Leela Committee split from the Shri Ram Lila Committee. In Delhi, this committee organizes one of the best Ramlilas. In addition with the Ramlila shows there are huge dummies of Kumbhakaran, Ravan, and Meghnad. The food stalls that are present here are very popular among the attendees.

Nav Shri Dharmik Leela Committee

Where: Red Fort Lawns

The Nav Shri Dharmik Leela Committee was founded on 1958. But the committee makes use of the latest technology in order to make the most charismatic and dramatic play of Ramlila. The committee also brags that it has tallest effigies.

Luv Kush Ram Lila Committee

Where: Lal Qila Maidan, Red Fort

The Luv Kush Ram Lila Committee is relatively not so old committee. They invite prominent Bollywood personalities and arrange lavish programs. The special effects and the high-tech stunts that are included give that extra glam to the festival.

Shri Ram Bharatiya Kala Kendra

Where: 1, Copernicus Marg

The Shri Ram Bharatiya Kala Kendra is an art center where there are performances of music, dance,  and other art forms. Their key performance is the dance-drama on the story of Lord Rama. The Ramlila performance has a blend of acting, folk and classical dance, and special effects.
