A man has been killed in the middle of a busy street in London. the victim, believed to be a young man in his early 20s was shot in the second fatal incident of its kind in just a week.
The man died at the scene, next to a popular cafe in Kilburn High Road, in the north of the capital. Witnesses said that armed police officers had rushed to the scene along with around a dozen police cars.
This latest shooting in the capital is just days following the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old who was hit in the head while getting into a car in Fulham.
One person said while they had not witnessed what had happened, they heard a loud bang before spotting a large crowd of black youths who were pushing people out of the way. They said that a fight then broke out on the street.
The boss of minicab firm Swift Cars said he saw the aftermath of the shooting. He said that a young man was lying on the pavement while people tried to revive him.
The MP for the area, Tulip Siddiq said he was shocked that such an incident had taken place in his consitituency, sending his thoughts to the loved ones of the victim. He promised to provide as much support as possible.
A spokesperson for the Met Police confirmed that they were called to a shooting at rush hour. Police officers and paramedics rushed to the scene, pronouncing a man in his early 20s dead.
The man’s next of kin have now been informed and a post mortem examination has now been ordered. So far, no one has been arrested for the shooting.
On Monday night, a 24 year old named as Salim Coulter was killed as he got into the passenger seat of a friend’s car in west London.
