A 21-year-old motorcyclist riding a Piaggo Vespa Scooter, is in “critical condition” after suffering serious head injuries following a hit and run that occurred in Paddington yesterday, on Edgeware Road.

The paramedics from the London Ambulance service rushed him to the hospital after the incident. The other vehicle that crashed into him did not stop after the crash, which occurred around 7:40pm. Emergency services were called on Edgeware Road, near the junction with Newcastle Place on Thursday.
According to the Metropolitan Police, he suffered “serious head injuries.” They also believe the other vehicle was a white or light colored transit style van.
“Police were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) on Thursday, 5 January at around 19:40 hours to a report of a collision between a van and a motorcycle at Edgware Road junction with Penfold Place, NW1,” Metropolitan police said.
An investigation is currently being carried out by detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, in order to find out more about the circumstances of the hit and run. They are currently interested in witnesses who may have any information.
A Met. Police spokesman said: “Roads and Transport Policing Command officers are appealing for witnesses and information after a fail to stop collision in Paddington left a motorcycle rider with serious head injuries.
“The vehicle the scooter had been collision with did not stop at the scene.”

Another motorcyclist was also critically injured in a hit and run on the same road in September last year. The motorcyclist’s condition stabilized and eventually healed from his injuries.
