One hundred volunteers join search for missing student

Around 100 volunteers have teamed up with police in a bid to find a missing French student who has not been seen since Monday.
Fears are growing for the safety of 21-year-old Antoine Maury, who was last seen on Monday after leaving friends at the Milton Road East Campus of Edinburgh College.
His frantic parents and his sister have joined in the search which is focusing on the Holyrood Park area of the city.
Police officers have praised the reaction of the public in coming to help with the search as “fantastic”
Inspector Alan Carson, from Police Scotland said Mr Maury’s family were very grateful for the support being offered to them to try to help find the missing student as quickly as possible.
He urged anyone who might have seen Mr Maury or who might have information about where he could be to come forward.
Insp Carson added: “If you have information in relation to a sighting of anyone like Antoine’s description leaving the park area, somewhere else in the park, please, please phone it in.”
Meanwhile, his sister Emilia thanked everyone who helped with the search along with everyone who was supporting the family by pushing out messages and images via social media.
She said: “I am calling everyone to seek for my brother Antoine. We all miss him really much and we really hope to find him soon.
“We are searching for a living person – we are still living on that hope and I just ask all of you to help us out because we all need support and we need help from everyone.”
His mother, meanwhile, issued an appeal directly to her son, asking him to come home and telling him he was not in any trouble.
She also asked people in the city to check their outbuildings and garages just in case Mr Maury was there. She also said that if anyone was giving Mr Maury a home than they ought to come forward because his family was incredibly worried.
Police are so far looking into one possible sighting of Mr Maury near the Duddingston Village area of Holyrood Park. That man was not wearing a top.
Mr Maury’s family say this disappearance is completely out of character for their son. He had only been studying at Edinburgh College for three months but is said to have been making friends and enjoying his studies.
