They never gave up hope. But they feared they would never see their daughter again. Now the biological parents of a teenager snatched as a baby have finally been able to hold her in their arms again.
Eighteen year old Kamiyah Mobley was taken from her mother’s arms at a hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, by a woman dressed as a nurse. She has spent her whole life since then living with her kidnapper, under the new name Alexis Manigo.
Up until a few days ago, she had no idea that her birth parents were actually Shanara Mobley and Craig Aitken. However, the teenager and her biological mother and father have now finally been able to meet, in South Carolina. Kamiyah has even taken a selfie of the three of them together, which is their first ever family photo.
Craig, 41, described seeing her for the first time as the best day of his life. They met at a police station in Walterboro, South Carolina, where 51 year old Gloria Williams is currently being held until she is taken to Florida where she will face kidnapping charges. Craig revealed that they had deliberately not discussed the alleged abduction because they wanted to concentrate on getting to know their daughter.
He added: “It’s going to be hard for her to turn this into a positive. She’s got very mixed emotions about the woman who raised her. But we are going to be there for her, this is just the start of a wonderful future.”
The mystery of what happened to baby Kamiyah has confounded the world since she was taken. However, it is understood that the teenager already had an inkling that all was not well. She was finally found after police received a tip off, and a DNA sample revealed that she was, in fact, the missing baby.
